The Rivers State Government has announced the withdrawal of the charges against two pilots of Caverton Helicopters and 10 others. The withdrawal was made through the office of the Attorney-General of the State, Zaccheus Adangor. The case was before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim made this known in a statement Today May 19 2020.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi Esq who had earlier granted the pilots bail has struck out the two charges and discharged all the defendants.
The pilots were arrested few months ago on the orders of the state governor despite being given approval by the FG to operate in the state. This was for violating the order on the ban of movement into the state by the governor. After criticisms from some quarters, they were granted bail by Chief Magistrate D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi.
