The Rivers State Police Command says the orderly room trial of one off its officers, Peter Ebah alleged to have raped a widow in a beer parlour at Sakpenwa, Tai LGA, has started Today, at the state CID.
DCP Ahmed Kantangora, in-charge of the state CID made this known when the leadership of the Nigeria Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch and some human rights activists paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Prince Nyekwere while addressing news correspondence after the visit said, the police officer, Peter Ebah is still in detention and has not been released as earlier claimed by some persons.
He said he was taken to the cell where the officer is currently being detained for confirmation. He urged the Police hierarchy to properly investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
