The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the arrest and detention of a woman for allegedly pouring hot water on her 9-year-old maid, for beating one of her children.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni in a statement yesterday, said the woman is currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
He assured that the matter will not be compromised, adding that justice must surely be served.
The suspect, Oluchi Chinedu was arrested after her neighbours at Paradise Avenue intervened in the matter.
Chairman of the Estate, Sam Ikem in a chat with journalists described the incident as attempted murder. He said the woman after bathing the girl with hot water, physically assaulted her for more than four days.
He also accused the woman of previously using hot knife on the little girl.
He called on the relevant authorities to adequately investigate the matter and ensure Justice is served.
