Following the arrest of a boat driver alleged to have masterminded the kidnap of some boat passengers along the Bonny waterway, few days ago, the Rivers State Police Command has advised Marine Transport Operators to subject their members for profiling.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni made this known in a statement while parading the suspect on Friday, in Port Harcourt.
Omoni, said the CP Eboka Friday gave the order which they believe will help in the fight against crime and criminality.
He also said the CP has increased the presence of police on the Bodo/Bonny Waterways with a view to stemming the tide of attacks and ensuring the safety of boat travellers.
Omoni, called on Marine Transport Operators and passengers to be vigilant, and immediately report any suspicious movement to the Police.
The eight passengers reportedly kidnapped during two separate incidents by heavily armed gunmen, along the Bodo-Bonny Waterways were rescued at a creek in Ogu/bolo LGA.
