The Rivers State House of Assembly ad hoc committee saddled with the responsibility of unravelling serial killings in Port Harcourt by convicted Gracious David-West, has commended all who ensured that the victims of the suspect got justice.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Kelechi made this known in a statement shortly after the conviction of the serial killer, David-West.
West was sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Adolphus Enebeli of a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt today.
Hon. Nwogu said: “When this serial killer was on the prowl, there was apprehension in the entire state, because no one knew who will be his next victim. An ugly development that made the house to set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the menace, which was chaired by my humble self; we swung into action immediately, and the suspect was arrested and charged to court.”
Nwogu hailed the judgement of the court stating that it would serve as deterrent to other criminal elements in the society.
He assured that the state will never experience such crime again as the state government is determined to protect the lives of residents of the state.
