A court in Rivers State has struck out criminal charges against immediate past Minister of Transportation and former governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, governorship candidate of the APC, Tonye Cole and five others.
This was after Attorney General of the state, Zaccheus Adangor informed the court of the decision of the government to withdraw the suit, Today.
After his announcement, counsel to the former governor described the action as an abuse of court process and prayed the judge to strike out the suit.
The reason for the withdrawal is yet to be known.
The Rivers State Government had few months ago filed criminal charges against former Governor Rotimi Amaechi over the alleged misuse of 96 billion Naira which accrued from the sales of state assets.
