Eight persons including a 3-year-old boy were on Sunday injured when two buses were crushed by a trailer at the Forces Avenue axis of Port Harcourt.
Environmentalist, Fyneface Dumnamene disclosed this in a statement on Facebook.
According to him, the blood and injuries he saw at the scene was much that he could not summon courage to snap them as those involved were bathed in their own blood from head to toe.
Part of his statement reads,
A trailer is said have hit them. The trailer is said to have been coming from the Abonnema Wharf area where Petroleum Tank Farm is and entered the road without checking well to be sure that it was free before crossing. The two commercial buses, one coming from Mile 1 area to Lagos Bus Stop and the other coming from Lagos Bus Stop to Mile 1 area were both crushed, pushing both of them towards its direction being the Forces Avenue area opposite the Department of State Services (DSS) office.
No life was lost but over 8 persons including an about 3year old boy who was holding his chest sustained various degrees of injuries. The blood and injuries I saw at the scene while returning from WAVE, 91.7FM where I was live on air from 2-3PM was so much that I could not summon courage to snap them. Human beings were bathed in their own blood from head to toe. Many legs especially those who sat on the front seat got shattered. Many people are unconscious, etc.
The trailer driver escaped after hitting them and it was said that he was being chased but no information about whether he was caught at the time of this report. Police and traffic officers who were not there as at the time of the incident later arrived in their numbers.
The victims have been evacuated to the hospital and the buses towed from the scene of the incident.
