The Rivers State Waste Management Agency, (RIWAMA), has warned traders against dumping of wastes indiscriminately outside government approved time of 6:00 pm to 12 midnight.
Sole administrator of the agency, Felix Obuah who said this in a statement over the weekend urged service providers to ensure that the state is clean within 48 hours.
Obuah’s message is coming few hours after the Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike had threatened to disband the agency, if they fail to within one week keep the state clean.
Felix Obuah, in his message also threatened to terminate contracts of service providers, if wastes are seen littered in Port Harcourt and its environs.
He added that the agency will not fail to arrest those dumping wastes at unapproved sites.
Obuah, further explained that the task of keeping the state clean must be accomplished irrespective of the challenges confronting them, as he urged residents to always dump their wastes at government approved sites.
