The Rivers State Commissioner for Transport, Prince Collins Onunwo, has decried the activities of individuals fraudulently operating under the guise of road decongestion taskforce committees and ticketing agencies to harass and extort the public.
In a statement issued by his press secretary, Promise Chimenem-Amadi, Mr. Onunwo reaffirmed the State Government’s ban on all road decongestion taskforces and similar groups. He emphasized that the ministry will officially announce the constitution of legitimate taskforce committees through appropriate channels when necessary.
The statement also called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute anyone impersonating members of the road taskforce, warning the public to be vigilant against such fraudulent activities.
