The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, has presented the 2025 appropriation bill valued at ₦12,495,341,662.76 to the 10th Obio/Akpor Legislative Council for consideration.

The proposed budget, tagged “Budget of Service for the People of Obio/Akpor,” allocates ₦6.5 billion to recurrent expenditure, including ₦2.8 million for personnel costs, ₦2.8 million for overheads, and ₦46 million for social benefits. Capital projects account for ₦5.87 billion of the budget.

Ihunwo stated that the budget would be financed through statutory allocations from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), internally generated revenue (IGR), and other sources. He urged the council to expedite the passage of the bill to ensure effective service delivery.

Responding, the leader of the legislative council, Rt. Hon. Nyeche Owhonogwu commended the chairman’s achievements within 100 days in office and pledged the lawmakers’ support for the budget’s swift passage.
