The Police in Rivers State has arrested a woman whose 7-month-old baby died during a fire outbreak at Kala in mile 4, Obio Akpor Local Government Area, on Tuesday.
According to sources, the fire started after the woman forgot her cooking pot on a gas cylinder for hours.
The fire incident, which was the seventh in two weeks in Port Harcourt, razed buildings and properties worth millions, as residents battled to put it out.
Meanwhile, experts say the carelessness of residents is mainly the cause of fire outbeaks in the state.
They said the fire incidents would have been prevented if safety measures were observed.
