A female resident of Diobu in Port Harcourt, identified as ‘Area Mama’ has criticized the ban on Street prostitution along the Abacha road axis of Port Harcourt, by Governor, Nyesom Wike describing it as “an act of wickedness.”
The lady, in a chat with our correspondent on the development, said the ban will leave many girls broke and frustrated.
She said girls prostitute not because they like it but, due to hardship and lack of jobs, so as to be able to feed and take care of themselves and family members.
She said prostitution should be legalized and not banned, as it is better to prostitute and make money, than engage in armed robbery and kidnapping.
Area Mama, called on Governor Wike to lift the ban, adding that those involved are adults who know what they want, not children.
She explained that with the business, she has been able to build a house, buy a car and help her siblings
“This Ashawo work wey Wike ban no good. Na adults dey do am and not children. Ashawo na work and them no dey force anybody do am,” she said.
“Many girls wey they do the work today sef, na because say Dem no get person wey go help them. Na hardship make some of them join the work. At least e beta pass to go thief or kidnap people.
“This one na our body we take dey do am. Abeg make him lift the ban, na there we dey go hustle,” she added.
