A young man identified as Michael Oforji has been allegedly killed by an inspector of Police Christopher Ike, at Aleto in Eleme Local Government Area. Investigations revealed that the deceased was killed by the officer because of N4000 owed a woman.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday in Port Harcourt. He noted that the police hit the victim in his stomach after the deceased attacked him, following an argument with the lady. The officer was called to settle the matter involving the young man and the late Mike.
Nnamdi Omoni noted that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary. He said investigation is on to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mike’s death. He assured that justice will be served on the matter. The CP has ordered a full investigation into the matter, Omoni clarified.
The force spokesperson appealed to residents and family members of the late Mike to remain calm. He furthermore, warned against jungle justice.
