The Rivers State Government has launched the renovation and upgrading of 135 primary healthcare centers across the 23 local government areas to enhance access to quality healthcare for residents.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represented by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, presided over the flag-off ceremony held on January 31, 2025. He emphasized the government’s commitment to making healthcare accessible even in remote areas through this comprehensive renovation project.
According to him, the initiative aims to increase geographical access to quality healthcare services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and curb the prevalence of non-communicable and preventable diseases,” Governor Fubara stated.
The governor expressed appreciation to partners, including the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Finance, through the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) project and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
Health Commissioner Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh praised the governor’s leadership and highlighted the Deputy Governor’s dedication to transforming the state’s healthcare system.
