PORT HARCOURT — The Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Hector Igbikiowubo, has stated that the emergency rule imposed in the state grants sweeping powers to the current administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Igbikiowubo urged supporters of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara to remain calm amid continued protests against Ibas’s administration. He warned that the unrest was testing the administrator’s patience.
Despite the authority granted by the state’s emergency gazette, Igbikiowubo noted that Ibas has opted for restraint, choosing not to invoke the full extent of his powers in response to the demonstrations.
