Popular Rivers sports journalist, Sammy Wejinya is currently hospitalized.
Weijinya disclosed this in a post on Facebook Today.
His statement reads,
A close shave with death!
I’m a very fit and active Man
I lead an extremely healthy lifestyle; I don’t smoke, I don’t touch alcohol and always respect health procedures.
I go to the gym, everyday and have never been admitted in a hospital in my life
All that changed on Monday night!
The last few months have been extremely stressful for me and things reached an all time high as the burial date of my late Mother drew closer and closer.
Towards the end of last week, I started to experience headaches on the right side of my frontal lobe which affected my vision
It was very unusual as I never ever suffer headaches.
This continued for days but I didn’t take a break from work or preparations for the burial.
I’m an only Son and my reasoning was, “If I no do am, na who go bury my Mama for me”?
On Monday evening however, a crescendo.
I want to thank Dr. Vincent Wachukwu who, admitted me at Veckron Hospital led the team that took care of me while I was on the sick bed
With the benefit of hindsight, that action saved my life.
I also want to thank my Boss, the Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barr. Chris Green who in his usual manner, ensured everything went smoothly
He continued to check on my family and took care of the medical bills even when I didn’t ask
I’m a lot better and on the way to full recovery
This is a call to everyone here to take your health seriously and always go for routine medical tests.
God bless you
