The Rivers State Value Added Tax Bill 2021 and the Rivers State Residence Registration Agency Bill 2021 has today scaled through first reading on the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

This follows a letter from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike for the consideration of the bills and their enactment into law by the house.

The Majority Leader of the House, Martin Amaehule who presented the two bills said the Rivers State Residence Registration Agency Bill seeks to establish Rivers State Residence Agency and for connected purposes.

He also added that the Rivers State Value Added Tax Bill seeks to impose value added tax on certain goods and services.

Speaker of the House, Ikuinyi Owaji-Ibani who urged the public and stakeholders to take part in the public hearing of the bills, said the bills are for the good of the state and to further enhance the provision of security, social welfare and development of the state.

The house adjourned sitting till Monday 16 August 2021.
