A family member to one of the seven abducted Corp members reportedly released on Sunday evening after eights days in captivity has alleged that a ransom was paid for their release.
The man, in a statement on Wednesday, said parents of the released NYSC members revealed that they paid to secure their release.
According to him, the Corp members comprising of two girls and five boys were freed on Sunday evening at Choba with mud all over their body.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Corps members.
Spokesperson of the Command, Grace Koko confirmed their release in a statement but, did not disclose how they were rescued.
Recall that a total of 12 Corp members were abducted after which five of them escaped leaving seven others behind.
