The Rivers State Police Command has paraded two alleged fake pastors, Umoren Bassey, 60, and Elijah Aniete, 51, who were arrested by youths in Rumunduru, Oroigwe, on January 20, 2025. The suspects, both from Akwa Ibom State, were handed over to the police for further investigation.

Speaking at the command headquarters on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed that preliminary investigations uncovered several unusual items in the suspects’ church premises. These included a live cartridge, a sword, two wooden coffins, fake naval passports, and thousands of photographs and passports of individuals.

Additional items recovered included bottles containing unidentified liquids, children’s shoes, calabashes, coconuts, Bibles, police uniforms, and various spiritual objects. Contrary to earlier reports, no python or large casket was found at the scene. The police have commenced discreet investigations into the matter.
