The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Mohammed Ibrahim, over alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom in the state.
Police spokesperson CSP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit, Emohua Annexe, intercepted Ibrahim as he attempted to relocate his camp from Port Harcourt International Airport Road, Omagwa, to the Agbonchia–Oyigbo axis in Eleme.
A search of the suspect’s camp led to the recovery of arms and ammunition.
The suspect reportedly confessed to being the ringleader of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Rivers State, with police continuing efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for the successful operation and urged residents to remain vigilant, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities
