The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has said that the ultimatum issued to the state government to pay gratuities of pensioners in the state have elapsed.
Chairman of the union in the state, Collin Nwankwo made this known in a statement over the weekend.
He said the failure of the government to pay pensioners within the time frame issued, leaves them with no option than to carryout their threat of a peaceful protest in the state.
Nwankwo who equally noted that pensioners in the state have been neglected by the government said they are the worst paid in the South-South region.
