Pensioners in Rivers State have alleged that the state government owes them more than ₦100 billion in unpaid gratuities and pensions.
The pensioners made the allegation during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, where they appealed to the state government to urgently settle their outstanding entitlements.
“We are being owed over ₦100 billion as gratuities and pension. Please pay us,” the pensioners said.
The retirees also lamented that they had been locked out of their office, further compounding the difficulties they said they were facing.
They called on the Rivers State Government to intervene and pay their outstanding pensions and gratuities to enable them meet their basic needs and live with dignity after years of service.
