The Atiku/Okowa campaign council in Rivers State has reacted to claims by Governor, Nyesom Wike that it called off the presidential rally because they lack the capacity to fill the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium.
The council had earlier announced the cancellation of the rally over security reasons.
Hours after the announcement, Wike alleged that the council was afraid of filling the stadium.
However, spokesperson of the council, Leleonu Nwibubasa in a statement Today, denied the claims stating that the campaign was called off for security reasons.
According to him, the campaign is not worth the blood of anybody, as it has nothing to do with being able to fill the approved stadium, adding that Gov. Wike cannot be trusted
“…he cannot be trusted; it is not because we are afraid of filling the stadium,” he said.
He noted that they are not in competition to fill the stadium, describing approval and cancellation of the use of the stadium as the height of instability.
He also said Wike is aware that Rivers people are for Atiku and eager to welcome him which is why he decided to frustrate the Campaign.
