The People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State has said that those criticising the State Governor’s directives on the closure of markets and some businesses, do not mean well for the state.
The out-going chairman of the party, Felix Obuah, through his media aide Jerry Needam today, Saturday April 4, 2020, said that, “those criticising the actions of the governor are enemies of the state, who do not care about the well-being of residents of the state.
“They are rudely disappointed at the fact that COVID-19 is being curtailed by the proactive steps being taken by the governor. For them, Rivers State should be recording more cases to satisfy their evil and political aggrandisement”, he said.
He stated that, the measures taken by Governor Nyesom Wike, so far, is the reason we have just one confirmed case of Coronavirus in the state.
The state PDP chairman whose tenure ends in May, further commended the governor, for his actions while also calling on the residents of the state to obey the directives of the government as it is geared towards ensuring their well-being, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He assured the people of the state, that the government is planning on palliative measures to cushion the effect of the closure of markets and businesses.
Furthermore, he urged the residents of the state to see COVID-19, as a common enemy, that must be defeated with their support.
This is coming after some residents have criticised the directives of the governor, which they believe is harsh and uncalled for, despite the confirmed case of Coronavirus in the state.
