A fire incident at Amaboko community in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, has killed ten persons with scores injured.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday.
Alaibiye West, Amadabo of Amaboko community, made this known in a statement.
He called on the state government to rebuild what is damaged, and deliver relief packages to those affected.
“The government should rebuild what is damaged and relief packages to the people concerned. A lodge was burnt and we do not know the number of victims,” he said.
“We are only assessing the number. It may even be more than 10, because there are people who are lodging here every day. Some children were burnt, but for now, we only learned that only three have been buried,” he added.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness said the fire started from a burning boat in the area.
