The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Chapter has received Personal Protective Equipment from its Grand Patron and Elder Statesman, Emma Anyanwu. This is geared towards protecting journalists against the dreaded COVID-19 while discharging their duties.
Emma Anyanwu represented by the Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Obinna Anyanwu made the donation to the union today. The PPE which includes 500 face masks and 500 bottles of hand sanitizers have so far been distributed to journalists in the state by the leadership of the union.
The Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Stanley Job Stanley while receiving the items, said he is not surprise, as the donor has been doing such for the union. He noted that Emma Anyanwu gives out scholarship worth N2 million to members of the union annually. Stanley thanked him for the kind gesture, while advising journalists in the state to protect themselves with the equipment.
The Chairman equally urged them to maintain social distancing and other safety measures while discharging their duties.
Obinna Anyanwu in his remark stated that giving out the items became necessary to ensure that journalists are protected in the state as they go about in the discharge of their duties. He furthermore, thanked the union for professionally discharging their duties in the state.
