The Rivers state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has raised an alarm over incessant looting of properties from its Secretariat at D/line, which was sealed up by the state government few months ago.

Chairperson of the Union, Beatrice Itubor who made this known in a chat with journalists yesterday said it is difficult for her to give proper account of the properties stolen so far, because she cannot gain access to the secretariat.

Itubor noted that on Wednesday night, she got a distress call from neighbours around that some persons were seen carting away properties from the secretariat. She said after rushing down to the place the following morning, she could not gain access to the office because it was still sealed up.

The NLC Boss called on the state government to reopen the secretariat to prevent looters from stealing the union’s properties.
