Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has forgiven a pregnant woman who violated the lockdown order in parts of the state today, on compassionate grounds. This event occurred during the governor’s monitoring of compliance with the lockdown measures in Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor local government areas today.
The pregnant lady was said to have violated his directive, by moving about in Port Harcourt without approval by the state government.
The Governor who arrested some persons who were not on essential duties but were moving about, noted that the level of compliance is satisfactory. He said over 20 vehicles impounded by different teams enforcing the lockdown, will be auctioned tomorrow. He said that the lockdown will be lifted only after the set objective of flattening the curve on COVID-19 is achieved.
The governor also said that all those arrested will be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land.
