The Rivers State Police Command, says it will deploy officers to ensure smooth conduct of the April 17, local government election, in the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, said this during a meeting with Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Retd Justice George Omereji in his office yesterday, in Port Harcourt.
Justice Omereji after the meeting, in a chat with journalists, said the commission visited the command to seek their support and cooperation for the forthcoming poll.
The RSIEC Chairman assured residents of the state of a free, fair and credible poll.
He called on Rivers people to come out in their numbers and vote their preferred candidates, as every vote must count.
