The Federal Government of Nigeria, says two local COVID-19 vaccines, produced by Nigerian scientists are awaiting clinical trials and certification.

Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja, said the move is significant.

“It is a welcome development that will open a new vista in scientific breakthrough and will boost the morale and image of the medical industry in the country,” he said.

Mustapha called on relevant agencies to provide the required and needed support for smooth conduct of the remaining protocols, for certification of the vaccines with a view to encouraging and motivating other researchers.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib said about 122,410 persons have been Vaccinated.
