A legal practitioner, U.S. Uchendu has called on members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to commence Impeachment proceedings against Governor Nyesom Wike over financial recklessness.
Uchendu, made this known in a petition addressed to the Speaker of the House of Assembly on Monday.
He stated that Governor Wike had no right to spend tax-payers money recklessly without the approval of the State House of Assembly.
“I have carefully read co-jointly sections 120, 121, 122, 123 and 124 of the said constitution and did not find anywhere where the apex law gave powers to the governor to lead his people into enormous poverty through unsolicited expenditures in the form of cash gifts, instead of wealth,” he said.
He further explained that the impeachment proceedings should serve as a direct consequence of Wike’s high spate of executive impunity.
