The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board has urged residents to observe preventive measures against Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and promptly report suspected cases to health authorities.
The board, in a public health advisory, explained that Ebola spreads through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected or deceased person, as well as contaminated materials.
It advised residents to regularly wash their hands with soap and clean water and avoid contact with the blood, body fluids or personal belongings of anyone suspected of having the disease.
The board also urged the public to watch out for symptoms such as fever, severe weakness, headache, vomiting and diarrhoea.
It stressed the importance of reporting suspected cases or possible exposure to health authorities immediately to prevent further transmission.
Residents were specifically advised to call 07032788072 before visiting a primary health facility if they suspect an Ebola infection or believe they may have been exposed to the virus.
The board urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and work together to protect their families and communities.
It emphasised that early reporting of suspected cases is essential to saving lives and preventing the spread of the disease.
