The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has refuted reports claiming that the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State has endorsed a candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking on Saturday during a luncheon organised for candidates of the coalition in Port Harcourt, Wike clarified that the alliance had not taken any decision on who would become the next governor of Rivers State.
According to him, the coalition’s only consensus so far is its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The Rainbow Coalition has not chosen who will be the governor of Rivers State. However, we have candidates who emerged under the coalition,” Wike stated.
“The only decision we have taken is that we are going to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The FCT Minister also warned aspirants and their supporters against making premature claims of endorsement, noting that such assertions could misrepresent the coalition’s position and his involvement as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
