The Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) has commissioned the revitalized Nihi Primary Health Centre in Etche Local Government Area, with improved infrastructure and medical equipment to enhance healthcare delivery.
The facility is equipped with solar-powered electricity, new beds and medical equipment to support immunisation, antenatal care, inpatient services and deliveries at any time of the day or night.
The commissioning also featured a one-day free medical outreach to bring healthcare services closer to residents of the community.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the RSPHCMB, Dr Chituru Adele, urged residents to protect the facility and ensure the sustainability of the improvements.
“Revitalising a health facility is one step. Sustaining its services is a shared responsibility,” he said.
The board also noted that efforts were ongoing to strengthen staffing at the facility to improve service delivery.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Honourable Obene Faith Onyeso, pledged the council’s support for the maintenance of the facility.
