The Grassroot Development Initiative, GDI, has denied reports making the rounds that it has endorsed a governorship candidate in Rivers State.
Director General of the group, Martin Amawhule in a statement yesterday, said the report is false, as the group has not endorsed any candidate.
According to him, the body cannot adopt or endorse any candidate without the backing and support of its grand patron, Chief, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
He apologized to the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party and the State government over the embarrassment the statement may have caused them.
The Grassroot Development Initiative is a Pro-Wike and PDP group dedicated to ensuring that Gov. Wike and the party succeeds politically.
