Flood has risen above 14 feet in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Council Chairman, Hope Ikiriko in a statement yesterday described the situation as “uninhabitable and devastating”
According to him, the LGA can no longer be accessed as all entry and exit points have been shut off and most roads cut off.
He revealed that most people who refused to leave their villages earlier are currently being rescued, and that elderly people are all trapped in various communities.
He also said camps for Internally Displaced persons are now in Ahoada East LGA, where spaces are available for people to stay.
“The truth is that we cannot access Ahoada West anymore. All exit points and entry points are shut off. Right now, we are in Ahoada East. This road leads to Odioku, Ubeta, Ulubia, Igbechi, and others,” he said.
“All the roads leading to Ubie clan of Ahoada West are cut off. What we are doing now is rescue. We are on a rescue mission. We are going to rescue people, who hitherto never wanted to quit,” he added.
