The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, in Rvers State has reacted to calls for assistance by a young lady reportedly raped by local vigilante members at Mbuoshimini in Port Harcourt over the weekend.
A young lady had in a statement called on FIDA and other Human Rights Groups to come to her aid alleging that she was raped by local vigilante members.
However, Chairperson of FIDA in the state, Adata Bio-Briggs shortly after the plea, urged the young lady to come to the office of the commission to make a formal compliant.
“Please ask her to come to our office to make a formal complaint. Fida Rivers Legal Centre, 3rd floor NBA Port Harcourt House, opposite Port Harcourt City Council, Moscow Road,” she said.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have called on the Police to investigate the matter and prosecute all those found guilty.
