The driver of a passenger bus that was hijacked by gunmen along the Kalabari axis of the East West Road, and three other persons have regained freedom.
The driver, in a chat with journalists yesterday, shortly after their release said they were taken into the bush, moving from one camp to another.
According to him, three persons escaped while in captivity, remaining just him and three others.
He also said after the gunmen discovered that they could not get any ransom on their behalf, they apologised and said, they were looking for wealthy persons.
He said the abductors explained that they resulted to crime after the government stopped their illegal oil refining activity, popularly known as “Kpofire.”
He noted that they slept in the bush for over 10 days without proper feeding.
