The 2015 Labour Party and 2007 Action Congress nominee for Governor of Rivers State, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Tonye Princewill says it is only an Ijaw governor that can develop the marginalized riverine parts of the state.
Princewill, disclosed this when a socio-political group clamouring for the emergence of a riverine governor in Rivers State in 2023, paid him a courtesy visit yesterday.
He stated that for the sake of justice and equity, a riverine person should be governor of the state, and that he supports the call.
According to him, it is not enough for Rivers State to have a riverine governor but, one that has the interest of Rivers people at heart and can transform the state.
Leader of the group, Somima Wokoma on his part, said power should be rotated in a multi ethnic state like Rivers, for the sake equity and justice.
He explained that the Ijaws have qualified persons that can govern the state and bring the dividends of democracy to Rivers people.
Somima, also urged the ijaws to support one another to ensure that one of them takes over Brick House in 2023.
