The Councillor representing Ward 8 in Ahaoda West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Otikpo Timothy has dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the Social Democratic Party.
Hon. Timothy led over 70 party members to join the SDP over the weekend.
He said they decided to dump the PDP because it does not have what it takes to win next year’s election in the state.
According to him, the decision of the SDP to pick an Ekpeye daughter as running mate to Sen. Magnus Abe shows that Ekpeye Kingdom is recognized by the party.
Timothy accused the PDP of failing to recognize the Ekpeye people, adding that they have gained nothing under the current administration in the state.
He alleged that his life has been under threats since his decision to dump the party, as there is a plot to put up criminal charges against him.
He declared that he is not afraid of the antics of his enemies, and declared PDP dead in Ahoada West LGA.
State Publicity Secretary of the SDP who received the defectors at the Ada Ekpeye Development Centre commended them for the decision, and said that more persons will join the party across the state ahead of next year’s election.
