The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, will on Tuesday, September 22, visit the Port Harcourt Maximum Security Custodial Centre to conduct a goal delivery exercise.
The exercise, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., is pursuant to Section 1(1) of the Criminal Justice (Release from Custody) (Special Provisions) Act, Cap C40, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
According to a press release signed by the Chief Registrar, David D. Ihua-Maduenyi, the exercise forms part of activities marking the 2026/2027 Legal Year opening.
The legal year opening ceremony will hold on Thursday, September 24, with a church service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Rebisi (Garrison), Port Harcourt, by 10:00 a.m.
The service will be followed by an inspection of the guard of honour mounted by the Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Police Command.
A special court session will subsequently take place at the Ceremonial Court Hall, Block C, High Court Complex, Port Harcourt, by 12:00 noon.
