The Chief Judge of Rivers State Justice, Simeon Amadi has released 37 inmates from the Port Harcourt Correctional Center.i
The inmates who have been awaiting trail at the center were released Today as part of efforts to decongest the Correctional Centre.
The Chief judge during the jail delivery exercise blamed the activities of the operatives of Nigerian Police on the high level of congestion experienced in the Correctional Center.
He also accused the Police of framing bogus charges against individuals without proper investigation.
He assured that the judiciary under his watch will continue to ensure decongestion of the facility, while advising the released inmates to be better citizens as they return to the society.
We learnt that some of the released inmates have spent about six to seven years at the Correctional Center.
