The Rivers State House of Assembly has again summoned the Chairman and Commissioners of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to appear on March 10, 2025. Lawmakers want explanations on the commission’s role in the disputed October 5, 2024, local government elections, unapproved expenditures, and funding sources for a proposed election.
Despite previous invitations, neither RSIEC officials nor Governor Siminialayi Fubara responded. Speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule warned that failure to comply could lead to legal action under Section 129 (1) (d) of the Constitution.
Earlier, Hon. Major Jack presented a Supreme Court judgment on the state’s political crisis for Assembly records during plenary Today.
