Martins Wachukwu – Media aide to factional Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaewhule has reacted to reports of a court rejecting the bid by the House to stop the spending of the Rivers State Government.
Wachukwu in a statement described the reports as false and misleading.
He said, “In a concerning development, a news story has been circulating on social media claiming that a court has rejected the Rivers State House of Assembly bid to halt the spending of Rivers State Government and the release of the INEC voter register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC). However, this information has been categorically refuted as false and misleading.
The court has not ruled against the Rivers State Government’s position. In fact, the court has ordered that the respondents, which include the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), CBN, Attorney General be served with the court process through substituted means, such as newspaper publication in The Nation Newspaper.
The court has further adjourned the matter to August 7th, 2024, to allow all the parties involved in the suit to present their case. This decision suggests that the court is still actively considering the matter and has not made a final ruling..
