The Northern community in Rivers State has dismissed online reports that it has endorsed a candidate for next year’s governorship election in the state.
Leader of the Arewa Community in Rivers State, Alhaji Musa Saidu in a statement yesterday, said the group has not endorsed anyone, and that those going about endorsing candidates are not “northerners but, jobless Rivers muslims.”
He said there is a difference between Muslims and northerners, as not all Muslims are northerners.
“Northern community in Rivers has not endorsed any candidate, those going about to endorse candidates are jobless Rivers Muslims…they are not Northerners. There is a difference btwn Muslims and Northerners,” he said.
There were reports making the rounds that the community has endorsed a certain candidate after he met with Muslim leaders in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
