The leadership of the Rivers Civil Society Organisations, RIVCSO paid a condolence visit to the Rivers state police command on Thursday 2nd September, 2022. To commiserate with the command on the unfortunate demise of one of her finest officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni whose death occurred on the 31st day of August 2022.
It was an emotional moment of eulogy, as the RIVCSO ably led by its chairman Comrade Enefaa Georgewill, took time to narrate our bitter-sweet yet harmonious and professional relationship with the late superintendent of police and former PPRO of the state command.
Remarkable of the chairman’s commendation was when he pointed out that, despite being at daggers drown with the late SP Omoni, and calling for his head on several occasions when the organisation was not satisfied with his presentation of the command’s dealings when he served as the PPRO of the command. Nnamdi will still attend to us the next minute with a friendly disposition when issues of urgent importance arises between the organisation and the command.
Such was the man whom Rivers state police command lost, and indeed the entire Rivers people including RIVCSO.
The Rivers state commissioner of police CP Eboka Friday, also acknowledged the fact that SP Nnamdi Omoni was one of the command’s finest officer who was loved by all and would be seriously missed. He also praised RIVCSO for our professional and patriotic service to the society by ensuring that the police is always working by the book. It was a moment of honesty and realisation that we must all remember, that no matter who we are and in all we do, we should always remember that life is transient hence we must lead a life that gives us a good scorecard when our earth services is over.
In all, the visit afforded us the opportunity to renew our collective commitment, and to continue the synergy between the police and the foremost civil society coalition in the state today.
