Rhapsody of Realities 31 October 2026: You’re Already Dead To Sin
SCRIPTURE: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? (Romans 6:1-2)
Some Christians have been taught to “die to sin.” As a result, they’re constantly struggling, praying, and striving to overcome sin, hoping that one day they’ll finally attain victory. But that’s not what the Scriptures teach. The Bible doesn’t tell you to die to sin; it says you’re already dead to sin.
Notice the language of the Apostle Paul. He doesn’t say, “Try to die to sin,” or “Keep dying to sin.” He says, “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Through your union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, you died to sin. That’s your present reality in Christ. It’s for the same reason that the Scripture says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you…” (Romans 6:14).
The challenge for many is that they’re trying to become what God says they already are. As long as you’re trying to die to sin, you’ll continue to struggle; it’s like trying to kill a dead man. The victory comes when you recognise and affirm what God’s Word says about you. Simply see yourself the way God sees you and live accordingly.
Romans 6:11 says, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The word “reckon” means to account it so. God wants you to think, talk, and act from the standpoint of who you are in Christ. The new creation was born sin-free.
You’re not a sinner trying to become righteous; you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, living out the reality of your new nature. This is the key to victorious Christian living. Don’t focus on sin. Focus on who God says you are. The more you recognise your identity in Christ, the more naturally you’ll walk in righteousness and manifest the life of God that’s in your spirit.
CONFESSION
I’m dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God. I live in the consciousness of my righteousness, and express the life and nature of Christ from within. Sin has no dominion over me because I walk in the reality of who I am in Christ: holy, righteous, sanctified, justified, and glorified.

Romans 6:11-12
11 Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but alive to God [living in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus.
12 Let not sin therefore rule as king in your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its lusts and evil passions.
Galatians 2:20
20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 5:24
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.
