The governorship flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Arch. Tonye Cole has reacted to the mass resignations that has rocked the party.
Cole in a statement on Tuesday said, the party in the state is being sifted to remove chaff and retain good grain.
He noted that despite the resignations, all is well with the party, adding that what is happening is what needed to happen for the party to awaken and fight for power.
His statement reads,
FROM THE DESK OF RIVERS APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE.
I will assure everyone here that all is well.
It is critically important not to panic but understand that what is happening is actually what needed to happen for us to awaken and fight for Power.
Power is never ‘given’ to anyone. It is desired for, hungered after and fought over. It takes the most strategic and best prepared to get it. Now we are better able to prepare for what lies ahead.
For 4 months since I got the nod, I have met, pleaded, mediated and negotiated with most of the ‘leaders’. Some in very private other with one or two witnesses. Be rest assured what you are witnessing is not as a result of lack of being spoken to.
APC is being sifted to remove chaff and retain good grain. In a few days those who must go would have gone and we will then face the prospect of reorganizing the party to face the battle ahead.
I can guarantee it will be a time of hard work but one that will be enjoyable because of the victories you will record. Don’t expect to win every battle but plan and execute to win the war. Choose which battles you MUST win and remain focused on winning the war.
Kalabari will stand majority united. Don’t expect to get 100% but I have seen enough to know the true believers and fighters for Kalabari will rally around me to deliver what we have in sight.
I remain steadfast in my commitment to lead APC to victory. #WeGoDoAm #GodDonDoAm
