The Rivers State Police Command, has appealed to residents of the state to assist them this trying period, as they are on ground to serve their interest.
Spokesperson of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni in a statement on Sunday, said residents should help them secure the state, by reporting any suspicious movement to security agencies.
He said the gunmen that attacked and killed seven of its officers on Friday, succeeded in doing so, because they came in security patrol vans with sirens blaring.
Omoni also appealed to residents of the state to be on the lookout, and report anybody with gunshot wound to the Police.
“If you see anyone with gunshot wounds please call the following police numbers: 08098880134 08032003514,” he said.
“We enjoin the general public to assist us this trying time. We are here to serve their interest. If they see any suspicious movement, they should immediately inform us.”
“The attackers the other day came in security patrol Vans with sirens blaring that was why they were able take our men unaware,” he added.
