Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against taking the 2027 presidential election for granted, drawing a comparison with the late former military Head of State, Sani Abacha.
In a post shared on X on Wednesday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain said Abacha enjoyed the backing of all five registered political parties at the time and appeared set to become a civilian president before his sudden death.
Melaye argued that political endorsements do not override what he described as the “God factor” in human affairs, warning that Tinubu should not ignore divine authority.
“There is a God factor in the affairs of men. Tinubu does not understand this. Abacha was endorsed by all the five political parties at that time. There was no contest; he was already cruising to become a civilian president. God picked His phone and called Abacha,” Melaye wrote.
He concluded with a warning to the President, saying, “When God calls you, there is no network failure. That God has not gone on omugwo. Tinubu, watch it.”
